Insomnes

"Insomnia is not a failure of the body, but the symptom of an environment that has abolished the night."  Jonathan Crary

The night, instead of bringing rest, becomes a territory of active wakefulness. Where dreams should dwell, something else emerges: images without origin, forms that never quite manage to be dreamed. Insomnia is not emptiness but an excess of world, lines that insist, signs that pulse, figures entangled on the surface of memory.

Each print is born from that prolonged vigil: while my mind expels sleep, my hand traces and dreams. They are traces of an invisible activity, maps of the un-dreamed, hybrid bodies floating in the darkness of silence.

Insomnes is an archive of what resists being dreamed. A cartography of sleeplessness, where paper becomes a stage for images suspended between appearance and fading.
